the desert

after spending a week in the busy, overwhelmingly glittery and crowdy las vegas, i finally set foot in the desert today. to the beat of cat empire, we headed east, hoping to drive for hours on deserted roads with nothing but the music, the wind, the peaceful feeling of being free. red rock canyon is everything but that... there's hardly any way to get away from the crowds, even in areas you would expect to be totally deserted. i did wander in the creeks at the mountains' feet... i did get the sense that i was totally lost at the bottom of the most beautiful sceneries nature has to offer, although for a very brief moment. standing at the bottom of immensity - for once, not being the sky-rises, is relieving. and then there is the call of nature, when everything around you has not been built, placed, organised, thought of, by man kind. saw a couple of grey fox. and then, with the blink of an eye, i was back in vegas. a little deceiving, but still, worth the ride.
